James Mock, Ed.S.
Director of Orchestras

With over 20 years of experience in music education, Mr. Mock has taught and consulted with music programs across the Southeast and Midwest. His ensembles have consistently earned Excellent and Superior ratings, gaining recognition from some of the nation’s most respected music educators for their professionalism and commitment to the arts.

Under Mr. Mock’s leadership, each program achieved a 90% or higher student retention rate and experienced annual growth rates of 50% or more. His ensembles have been featured in prestigious events such as Music for All, Bands of America, and at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

In 2025, under Mr. Mock’s direction, the Richmond Hill Middle School Chamber Orchestra earned the coveted GMEA Exemplary Performance Award, receiving straight Superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation, Solo and Ensemble, and saw 20% of the orchestra participate in GMEA All-State and District Honor Orchestras.

In previous roles, Mr. Mock served on both a building leadership team and an arts committee tasked with opening a new performing arts center. Before entering the classroom full-time, he worked in management and supervision while also teaching private lessons and consulting with music programs.

He is proud to be part of the Wildcat Family!
